Bishop George Punnakottil Endowment Lectures

Pavanatna College Murickasserry was founded in 1982 by His Excellency Mar George Punnakottil, Bishop of Kothamangalam. His Excellency has been the patron of the college ever since its inception. His noble endeavours to the cause of higher educatin in this most backward and highly deserving area are laudable. In recognition of His Excellency's genuine concern for this institution and his interest in academic persuits, the principal, staff and well wishers of this college have instiututed

“ Bishop George punnakkottil Endowment Lectures” on the occasion of his Episcopal silverJubilee celebrations in the college with an endowment of Rs. Two lakhs. These endowment Lectures, it is expected, would foster genuine academic discussions on various topics. So far three envonment lectures of this kind were delivered by some eminent personaliies, the details of which are as follows

First Lecture by Dr. Cyriac Thomas Hon’ble Vice – Chancellor, M.G. Unviersity, Kottayam on “ The Challenges of Secularis in India” on 7th Feb; 2002

Second Lecture by Dr. Sukumar Azhikode, veteran writer, orator, cultural leader and scholar on “Naadum Nammalum” on 23rd October 2003.

Third Lecture by Dr. M.V. Pylee, the Emeritus Professor and scholar, on “Internationalisation of Higher Education”, on 23rd Feb.2004

Forth Lecture by Dr. S. Kevin pro vice Chancellor University of kerala on Quality Assurance in Higher Education

Fifth Lecture by Dr. K.S. RadaKrishnan, Vice Chancellor, Sree Sankaracharya University, Kalady, on Navodhana Moolyangalum Vidyabhyasa Parishkarangalum.

Sixth  Lecture by Dr. Jancy James, Vice Chancellor, M.G. University on Adding Values to Education
